Mikko Meriläinen is a postdoctoral researcher at Tampere University, in the Centre of Excellence for Game Culture Studies. He is especially interested in how gaming in its different forms is a part of everyday life, and his doctoral dissertation addressed young people’s digital gaming as a parenting issue. Meriläinen is active in public discourses surrounding gaming, and has especially highlighted the need for gaming bildung, the nuanced understanding and sustainable development of complex gaming cultures.
