The year of Game Art is 2022. In addition to the event entity in Kouvola, playable art and art in games are in the limelight all over Finland. Experience Points - The Art of Video Games exhibition opened in the Jyväskylä art museum's art space “Ilmiö” on 1.2.2022. The exhibition has been planned together with the Capital of Game Art. Games and fanart will be exhibited in the exhibition which has been cocreated with the students from the University of Jyväskylä and the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences. A virtual reality piece has also been created for the exhibition, where games and art collide in a reality enabled by modern technology.
The Jyväskylä exhibition broadens the visibility of the art of games from games itselves towards the gaming culture. Fan art is an important part of the self-expression of generations that have grown up with games and it is great that a stage has been created for this. The making of new art and research of new technologies are valuable artistic work and the Capital of Game Art congratulates the “Experience Points- exhibition” (Kokemuspisteitä- näyttely) for their valuable and amazing work for the art of games.
